Well, we can hardly play anything, the band director is kinda mean (don't tell him I said that...), he gets mad at my friend a lot, so I stare at the wall and don't talk when we're not playing. Torture... Angry

Oh, you have to take it? That really stinks.

At my school, it's sort of the same thing. I think you have to take at least 1[?] year of any form of art as an elective. There are a bunch of choices, though; you don't have to take "music". You can take guitar, band, orchestra, wind ensemble, jazz band, jazz ensemble, chorus, choir, chorale, art, pottery, website design, photography, fashion design, bells, drama, or another art-based class. So, technically, you could take a class that has to do with almost anything on this site, LOL. ^-^

Interesting! In 4th and 5th Grade, taking either band or chorus is mandatory at my school. Most kids did chorus because they didn't want the hassle of learning an instrument. I did band, though. Smile

And in 3rd grade, everyone had to learn recorder.
Now, in older grades, we have an option, and I want to opt out! Mad

We dont have to take any music classes at our school, you can just take art or keyboarding and get your credit. but i take orchestra... so thats that cat

When i took piano, i went to lessons on thrusdays at a music center...once a week, and then i would practice the assigned songs all week until the next lesson where i was expected to have them perfected.

its my favourite! if you go 1 octave higher then middle c then while doing playing with your left hand, hold down middle c and g. it sounds so pretty! Smile

If you do... i forgot what its called, but its like a halloween sounding [like deep tone] song, and you do a minor 1 chord, its AWESOME!
